Rules and Regulations

Awarding of hostel seats is entirely at the discretion of the Management.

No repeaters will be given hostel accommodation.

 FACILITIES:

Rooms with a view - The sea as far as the eye can see!  Natural light and fresh sea breeze and the Mumbai skyline - Bandstand on the right and Worli seaface on the left- all from a hostel room!  What better way to start a day - A walk on the Dadar chowpatty or a jog around the vast Shivaji Park - a few steps away!

 

All rooms are equipped with individual cots, chairs, built in cupboards and study tables. Three students will be staying in each room. Students must provide their own  study lamps with electric bulbs of not more than 60 watts power.


In case of serious illness or infectious diseases, the college authorities in consultation with the local guardian, will make necessary arrangements to shift the student from the hostel to any other appropriate place as per medical advice.


The office telephone extensions should be used by the students only for making emergency calls on payment. Similarly friends and relatives should be informed not to make personal calls on the telephone exchange unless the matter is urgent. Intercom should be used only to receive calls and should not be used for contacting other departments. Public telephones and STD booth are available on the premises.


TV may be viewed by the hostel students within the timings announced by the authorities. For extension of normal viewing time, written permission must be obtained from the hostel authorities. Normal viewing time is up to 11 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday  and up to 1.00 a.m. on weekends and on nights prior to a holiday.


Any hostelite wishing to use his/her own vehicle must get the written consent of his/her parents/local guardian and must also submit an application to the Principal, seeking permission to park his/her vehicle in the compound of the Institute. The vehicle so parked will be at the risk of the student and the Institute will not be held responsible for any loss or damage howsoever caused to the vehicle.
In their own interest, students are advised to keep their rooms locked at all times. Students are advised not to keep more than Rs.100/- in the rooms. The Institute will not be responsible for any loss, damage or theft of personal effects.


Only one elevator  is available for use by the students staying in the boys’ hostel.

 RESPONSIBILITY

The hostelites will be held responsible for any damage to the property of the Institute and will have to make good the losses and also face strict disciplinary action.

The hostelites shall keep their rooms, corridors, staircase and bathrooms spotlessly clean and tidy at all times. Students found to be living untidily and unhygienically, will be asked to leave the hostel.

Students are advised to bring the following articles in addition to their wearing apparel. Mattress    (6’ x 3’),pillows, pillow cases, bed linen, blankets, bath towels, toilet  requirements, mosquito repellents etc. Raincoat or umbrella, rainy shoes etc. for the rainy season. Table lamp, mug with lid for tea/coffee.

It is compulsory for all students to have all meals in the Dining Hall during all meal periods. Students are not allowed to carry their meals into hostel room except in case of illness with prior permission from and at the discretion of  Hostel Superintendent/ Warden. The following meal timings shall be strictly adhered to by all the hostelites;

    Breakfast                          7.30a.m. to 8.15a.m. 

                          1st YR        7.30a.m. to 7.45a.m.

                          2nd YR      7.45a.m.  to 8.00a.m.

                          3rd YR      8 .00a.m. to 8.15a.m.

    Lunch                              1 .00p.m. to 1.30p.m. 

   Dinner                              8.00p.m.  to 8.30p.m.

    Breakfast on holidays and weekends will be served from 9.00 to 9.30.a.m.

If the service counter is closed, do not enter the kitchen for food. No hostelites are allowed to enter the kitchen until and unless they are on duty.

All students staying in the boys’ hostel must be in their respective rooms by 10.00 p.m. and students staying in the girls’ hostel by 9.00 p.m. Male students are not permitted in Girls’ hostel under any circumstance and vice versa. Attendance in the night will be taken daily at 10.00 p.m. and your presence in your room during attendance is a must. After the attendance, the hostel will be locked.

The hostel  will remain locked from 8.45 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and between 2.00.p.m.to 5.15 p.m. on  working days ( i.e. during class hours.)

 

LEAVE

Hostelites desiring to avail leave due to sickness or any other reasons should obtain the same from the hostel superintendent. Written permission for leave as per official procedure (a letter from parent/local guardian) should be obtained from the hostel superintendent.

Permission to go out of station.(beyond Mumbai limits) All hostelites have to obtain prior from Hostel Superintendent to go out of station. Moreover students have to submit consent letter from their parent/local guardian to hostel superintendent /warden for the same.

Late Night / Night Out

All girls and boys wanting to stay out later than 9.00/10.00 p.m. will have to obtain written permission from the Hostel Superintendent / Warden. Any student entering the hostel after the stipulated time, must deposit his/her mess card with the security and must enter their names in the late night register. Students desiring to spend nights out on weekends or prior to bank/public holidays must submit their night out application in advance to the Hostel Superintendent/Warden. Night outs are allowed only to spend the nights with their local guardian/parents. Late night/ Night out permission will not be given when the following day is a working day, and around examination period, for safety and security, poor academic performance or whenever the authorities deem fit. Girls hostelites will be permitted to have nights out provided they spend the night at the residence of their local guardian and on return submit a letter from the local guardian to the effect that the student had spent the night at the local guardian’s residence.

ROOM INSPECTION

Hostel Warden/Superintendent are empowered to take regular/surprise inspections of the hostel rooms at any time during the day or night and the students shall voluntarily co-operate in allowing them to do their duties without any interruptions.

WAITINGS

In case of waitings duty, the duty list should be handed over to the Warden before leaving for such duties. All waitings and substitutes should be duly approved by the F&B Department. Private waitings are strictly prohibited, and stern disciplinary action will be taken against anyone doing such waitings.

ATTENDANCE

A minimum of 90% attendance ( term wise) is required to retain/ secure the hostel accommodation for the next term/year.

DISQUALIFICATION

Gross misconduct, indecent manners, misbehaviour, undesirable and illegal activities shall mean and include the following:

Coming to the dining room in night clothes, shorts, lungis or similar attire, bathroom/rubber slippers or in any other indecent apparel.

Wanton waste of water or electricity or using any electric connection for operating personal gadgets including iron, stoves, etc. without prior permission from the college authorities.      Playing music loudly after 10.00 p.m. and before 6.00 a.m. so as to disturb the hostel environment.

Holding unauthorized meetings and demonstrations.

Visiting each other’s room very frequently and at odd times (after 10.p.m.) to disturb normal peace.

Permitting  day scholars/outsiders inside the hostel premises. Apart from disciplinary action, the hostelite concerned will be fined Rs.50/- every time he is found entertaining a day scholar in his/ her hostel room. Visitors can be entertained only in the Fast Food /Lobby between 5.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. on a working day and 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.  on holidays.

Any form of gambling in the hostel premises.

Consumption of alcoholic drinks anywhere inside the Institute campus or entering the hostel/campus under the influence of alcohol and taking of drugs in any form.

Indulging in ragging or behaving in any perverse manner so as to cause physical/mental torture to any co hostelite/student of the Institute. 

Keeping any article or thing, which is likely to cause damage or hurt any one by throwing the same intentionally or otherwise outside hostel windows such as glass bottles, paper weights etc. (for keeping drinking water use only plastic bottles).

Hanging of clothes, linen, mattresses etc. on windowsills, balconies or any other place other than that allotted for the purpose.

Found loitering on ground , 3rd, 4th, and 5th floor of the ATC or on the top terrace which are out of bounds. Found smoking on campus/ in the hostel.

Committing any of the acts as stated above will entail strict

Disciplinary action including expulsion /suspension or levy of fines/penalties at the discretion of the college authorities.

 LEAVING HOSTEL

When the student leaves the hostel at the end of term/academic year MUST complete the hostel clearance procedure and should submit the same to the SECURITY at the time of leaving.

RENEWAL OF HOSTEL ADMISSION

At the commencement of a new academic year, all students must apply a fresh. The three-year Diploma students cannot take for granted that their hostel seat is secure if it was granted in the first/second year. Non compliance with rules and regulations both of the Institute and hostel and poor attendance and poor performance in the examination are some of the grounds on which readmission into the hostel may be denied.
